Veterinary Acupuncture for Animals

Acupuncture is an alternative therapy of Chinese medicine that inserts and manipulates needles at various parts of the body to relieve pain and discomfort. Many people believe that this alternative treatment is simply effective for the placebo effect or effective for the patient. Placebo effect means simply the concept of thinking that treatment is effective and that the patient feels comforted, simply speaking the mind is the material way of perception to ease the pain. However, this acupuncture treatment is used not only for humans today but also for animals today. The veterinarian is also currently carrying out acupuncture sessions and treatments for animals. So, probably, acupuncture is not just a placebo-like treatment, as it was obviously working on treating animals.

The first concern when doing acupuncture treatment involves piercing the body with a filiform needle, so it is whether the process is likely to be painful for animals. In fact, acupunctured human patients may prove that this alternative treatment is not a major pain, but instead explained warmth and tingling. For animals, the majority of them fell asleep during the process. And when the animals saw their veterinary acupuncture approaching them, they admire as a signal that they trust the veterinarian and drugs taken to them by animal doctors will not hurt them. But I have a fraction about animals that are not yet used to that process. This is the same as some human beings.

As with human acupuncture, animals used for animals are sterilized and are intended for one time use only. The width of these needles is 0.18 - 0.25 mm. It is known that 95% of animal patients stabbed with these needles feel comfortable, especially with the presence of owners or handlers who reassure them. Especially when I run acupuncture in the patient's house, most animals feel relaxed. This alternative is safe and must be performed by qualified practitioners or competent veterinarians.

This process of inserting a small needle into the animal's body is an effective treatment for a variety of respiratory and cardiac conditions, from arthritis to skin allergies in various areas of the body. Improved combinations of traditional medicines and acupuncture for animals may significantly improve infections, allergies and degenerative diseases. This has been shown to be particularly effective in treating chronically painful conditions, particularly with elderly animals. Acupuncture may serve as an adjunctive measure for animal medicine if conventional treatment appears to be insufficient to alleviate animal suffering. First, some Chinese herbal medicines may be administered, but the best results are obtained when the needle is inserted. Ultimately, when patients respond positively to acupuncture, the dose of conventional medicine may already be reduced.

For acute pets and animals, acupuncture should be done once or twice a week. Frequent sessions place unnecessary stress on animals and may not give enough time for animals to respond to treatment. If the symptoms improve, the treatment interval will be 2 to 3 weeks. And after complete recovery acupuncture may be done for maintenance therapy only once a month or once a season.
